    Boston Vision is seeking an experienced Optometrist to join our growing team. As an Optometrist, you will use your knowledge and established skill set to provide excellent eye care to each patient.     Job Description

    Under the supervision of the Lead Ophthalmic Technician, we are seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Technician to join our Refractive team in our growing multispecialty practice. The Certified Ophthalmic Technician performs duties of a clinical assistant specializing in anatomy, function, and diseases of the eye. Technicians facilitate patient care by performing the preliminary “work up” of the patient. This includes gathering all past medical records, performing preliminary eye function and diagnostic testing needed for the physician to diagnose and treat such eye conditions. Under the direction of the physician, refractive technicians may assist in surgical procedures such as Lasik Eye Surgery.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting in the surgical suite for LASIK and other refractive procedures.  You will be trained and certified to operate the laser including clinical data input, calibration and scrubbing in to assist during surgery
    • Prepare laser room and instruments for surgery; wash and sterilize equipment post-surgery.
    • Manage patient flow from pre-op through surgery to post-op phase.
    • Monitor and maintain inventory of all medications and medical supplies.
    • Monitor laser room and clinic equipment; maintain records regarding equipment service, testing and safety according to company policy and procedure.
    • Delivering quality patient care, excellent communication and customer service
    • Applying drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes
    • Educating patients by providing information regarding treatment, use of drops and drugs
    • Operating various ophthalmology diagnostic equipment

This includes gathering all past medical records, performing preliminary eye function and diagnostic testing needed for the physician to diagnose and treat such eye conditions. Under the direction of the physician, technicians may administer eye medications and maintain optical and surgical instruments as well as assist in surgical procedures such as Lasik Eye Surgery. No prior experience is required as we offer a full in-house training program.

    Ophthalmic Technicians are highly skilled. This role can be a lifetime career or a stepping-stone to other opportunities in healthcare. Nationally recognized certifications can be achieved after about 1-year in this role. Such certifications are funded by the practice to enable our team to achieve success.
