Meet Dr. Zuckerman
Deborah E. Zuckerman, M.D. is a board-certified member of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She sees both children and adults in her practice. She treats a wide range of general ophthalmology conditions including glaucoma, cataracts, thyroid eye disease, diabetes, and the aging of the eye.
Dr. Zuckerman graduated cum laude from the Hopkins Grammar School as a Mary Brewster Thompson scholar. She attended Yale University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended medical school at Boston University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Tufts Medical Center. She also completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. She was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1988 and recertified in 2005. Her areas of special interest are pediatric ophthalmology and general ophthalmology. She served on the faculty of the pediatric department at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary teaching residents. She also taught residents as a member of the Tufts Medical Center faculty at the Jamaica Plain VA Hospital. She is presently an Assistant in Ophthalmology at the Mass. Eye & Ear Infirmary and a Clinical Instructor at Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Zuckerman was a research fellow at the Brookhaven National Laboratory and also performed research at Tufts Medical Center, the Mass. Eye & Ear Infirmary, Yale Ophthalmology, and Yale Psychobiology. She has published numerous articles in the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Zuckerman has been in practice since 1986 and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, and the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Deborah Zuckerman has been selected by Castle Connolly and is included in their guide “America’s Top Doctors.”
Dr. Zuckerman is very active in the community. She was a member of the board of directors at the Children’s Center of Lexington as well as the Fiske Extended Day Program. She was an elected member of the Fiske Site–Based Council for two terms and the Harrington Site–Based Council. She is an active member of the Boy Scouts Troop 119, serving as a committee member. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, swimming, and spending time with her husband, Dr. David Gendelman, as well as her three children.
