I decided to get Lasik, scheduled a free consultation that Friday, and was scheduled for surgery the following Friday after that. It was all done in under two weeks and I honestly cant believe how seem-less it all was. Dont be concerned with others saying they felt cattled through the office. Yes, they have a system, and yes you go into surgery one after the other, but thats what makes the process so effortless. Everyone from the receptionist desk, to the testing nurses, to the actual surgery and follow up were amazing. Dr. Brenner did my surgery, and Dr. Yao did my consultation and follow up. I felt completely supported, reassured and comfortable the entire time.I wasnt a candidate for Lasik so they suggested PRK. Theyre the doctors, I fully trusted them with their decision. The actual surgery was weird, slightly uncomfortable, but completely painless. They gave me a xanax, trust me youll want it, to relax before surgery. Once in the room, there were several doctors present as this is a learning facility as well. Dr. Brenner walked me through the surgery as he was performing it, and lovely nurse held my hand. There was a lot of water, and that brought my anxiety up but it was so quick, that is passed right away. Once the laser was in position, it was 10 seconds and done, for each eye. There was a weird smell but I just ignored that.The recovery process took about 5 days. I took 9 days off work just to ensure I felt fully comfortable before going back, and Im glad I did. I slept for 72 hours straight, waking up every 5 hours to put in drops. Youll want to stay in bed in a dark room for at least 3 days. I even wore the glasses inside just because it felt better. There was one night of severe burning during the recovery but the pain drops they give you worked immediately. Otherwise, the pain was minimal and I found relief in holding ice packs gently against my eyes. Surgery was on Friday and by Monday I was able to attend a funeral (wearing the glasses of course). I am in my 3rd week of recovery and I still have some far away blurriness and halos in lights at night, but other than that, my vision is insanely good. I havent been able to just open my eyes and go about my day since I was a kid. Best decision I ever made and I cant wait until Im fully healed. Dr. Yao said my vision should be at about 100 after a month.The doctors at Boston Vision are actually some of the best. Do your research, and youll find you come back to them. 10/10 experience.
